An intake vent is an opening in a grow tent that allows fresh air to enter the grow space.

WHAT IS AN INTAKE VENT?

Intake vents are usually located near the bottom of a grow tent and may be passive (open mesh) or connected to ducting. They work in conjunction with an exhaust system to bring in fresh air as stale air is removed.

Many intake vents include light-blocking flaps or mesh screens.

HOW IT’S USED

Growers use intake vents to:
– Supply fresh air to plants
– Maintain proper airflow balance
– Support negative pressure inside the tent

Most small tents rely on passive intake created by an inline exhaust fan.

WHY IT MATTERS

Intake vents matter because:
– Plants require fresh air and CO₂
– Exhaust systems cannot function properly without intake
– Poor intake can strain fans and reduce airflow efficiency

Balanced intake and exhaust keep the environment stable.

LIMITATIONS & NOTES

Intake vents should remain unobstructed. In dusty or pest-prone environments, mesh screens should be kept clean to avoid airflow restriction.
